Fireworks, fireworks, fireworks

Wow what a busy week we have had after our half term break...
The children were very excited about firework night and enjoyed doing lots of creative activities linked to fireworks.

We made some tin foil sparklers,

We made Catherine wheels using paper plates, glitter paint, sequins and ribbon. Some of them have been added to our creative area display.

We made firework pictures using fluorescent paints which we applied using pipettes.

In preparation for November 11th we made some lovely poppies which will become part of a whole school display in the main hall.

We have started making an Autumn investigation area, this includes various natural objects (leaves, conkers, acorns etc) for the children to explore, animal puppets, non-fiction books and a dark area to explore with torches. We will be adding more resources to this area each week and will keep the blog updated with photos.

Other activities this week included- investigating bugs.

Playing with bug slime (tapioca and food colouring).
Making 'witches potion'.

And to end the week we made popcorn!

We enjoyed our popcorn whilst watching some of our favourite story DVDs- Little Rabbit Foo Foo, Baby Brains and Giraffe's can't dance.

Coming up next week- More Autumn activities, a visit from the coram life bus and on Thursday the afternoon nursery will visit Dulwich park.
