Mini beasts!

This week we introduced our new topic- mini beasts; the children came back refreshed from the Easter break and excited to learn lots about bugs and insects.

The children have enjoyed learning some names of different mini beasts and have put this into practice by playing mini beast bingo.

We made some non-fiction books using pictures of mini beasts, some of the children were able to label their mini beast pictures and used their phonic knowledge to sound out the initial sounds of the words.

The children have loved exploring our newly finished bug garden, they found ants, spiders, snails, woodlouse and centipedes.

The children made some lovely mini beast collages, we are going to laminate then and put them into the bug garden.

We have changed our indoor role play area into a flower shop; the children have enjoyed making price labels for the flowers and flower pots and made some great tissue paper flowers to add to the shop.

As the weather has been so warm the children have loved having lots of water play outside, they even set up a car wash to wash the bikes!

The children have also enjoyed using metal detectors in the outside area.

Next week we will focussing on the theme of spiders.
