Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

It's almost Christmas and we have had a lovely last week at Nursery; the children did an amazing job singing carols for their parents and we were all very proud of them. The Nursery team would like to wish all Our Lady's Nursery children and their families a very happy Christmas and new year. We would also like to thank you all for your lovely cards, gifts and wishes! Have a wonderful holiday and we'll see you all in the new year!

There are some fun games to play and video clips on the Cbeebies website-

Christmas is coming!

This week the children have learnt all about Advent and the arrival of Jesus. We have read the Christmas Story and almost all of the children have taken our travelling posada home for an evening.
The travelling posada
The children have learnt all about the special Advent Wreath and made their own versions using paper.

We have been getting festive and made some great Christmas trees, used Christmas paint rollers, wrote our Christmas wish letters to Father Christmas, and made cotton wool snowmen.

The children have been posting Christmas into numbered letter boxes to practice number recognition.

Other activities included-
Investigating frozen 'snow'

Playing with 'icebergs' in the water tray.

Next week- we will be holding our Christmas concert on Wednesday at 11:15 and 3:00; we will be having our Christmas parties on Thursday and it is Toy day on Friday (children can bring a non-electrical toy to school).

Penguins Penguins everywhere!

Penguins have taken over the Nursery! This week the children have loved learning all about penguins and other Arctic animals. We have set up a small world play area with an Arctic theme this includes wooden animals, Inuits, glittery stones, glass ice blocks, winter themed books and key words.

The children made some sweet paper plate penguins- we have added some to our display board.

The children made some great penguin masks too.

The penguins have even taken over our reading room!

Here we are making penguin fact books.

We have begun our Christmas preparations; we have set up our Advent prayer table, made a Christmas tree and made a Christmassy woodland animal small world play area.

Next week the children will be learning about The Christmas Story and doing some Christmas themed crafts.
